#1 Driver Ratings

Postby XSR Race Control » Sat Nov 11, 2017 11:23 am

With the upcoming 2018 season, we are implementing a driver rating system. The goal is to have drivers of a similar caliber competing with other drivers of their skill level. For the most part this will only affect multi-class leagues like our GT3 World Challenge which will be entering its 4th season in 2018. Currently we are using Gold, Silver, and Bronze as our ratings similar to what FIA and many other real life sanctioning bodies use. Our criteria are a little different but the idea is the same: Get drivers of like skill levels to compete together for wins and championships in the affected leagues rather than never having a chance against potentially higher rated drivers. Below there is a list of everyone that is currently an XSR driver or has been in the last year and their rating.

The criteria for ratings are fairly simple and as you would expect, largely based on performance. How well you do on a consistent basis and overall pace are your performance factors. Cleanliness of driving, event attendance, and ability to follow instruction both on and off track are taken into consideration as well, along with your behavior on the forum. Winning championships is also taken into account and sometimes will grant an automatic promotion of rating on the next evaluation cycle.

We have a board or committee of members here that vote for your rating. They have to witness you in a minimum of 3 events before they are allowed to vote on your rating. At this time they are all drivers in many of our various leagues as well, giving them an insight to the races you all run in and how your performance looks. As they have to witness your progress, any new drivers will start out with a Bronze rating, regardless of their skill level. We will re-evaluate drivers every 6 months or less and if you have earned a promotion, it will then be applied.

For the leagues that require certain driver ratings for entry, you will only be allowed to enter the series if you have achieved that rating. If it is in the middle of a season when you achieve the required rating, you be allowed to join the series once the promotion is official. For some multi-class leagues using the ratings for classing drivers, such as our GT3 World Challenge, you will remain in your assigned class until the end of the season, but you will be allowed to move up a class (or may be required to move up a class) at the next season registration. In other multi-class leagues we may allow you to switch classes at the time of promotion.

One last thing:
Ratings are relative to the drivers we have on hand. For example, should we have an influx of drivers who are of Gold class rating but much much faster than some of the drivers that are already rated Gold, so much so that they are uncompetitive, they may be re-classed to Silver, to better suit the competition.

You will find one of the following icons below your avatar once you have been rated.

#2 Re: Driver Ratings

Postby XSR Race Control » Mon Apr 02, 2018 1:01 am

Driver Ratings have officially been posted following the beginning of the 2018 season. From here out, all drivers are being rated based on their performance on track, how clean they drive around others, the decisions they make on track, and their participation on the forum. Some leagues may grant a grade promotion for finishing well. We have two such instances at the time of this posting:

Campos, Valter (Campos) - Promoted to Gold from Silver effective December 31, 2017. Valter performed very well in the GTA class of the 2017 GT3 World Challenge and subsequently won his class championship. Per the rules of Driver Ratings, and the GT3 World Challenge, Valter received immediate promotion for winning his class championship.

Kemble, Spencer (w00dchuck) - Promoted to Silver from Bronze effective immediately. Spencer showed great performance on course during the SimKart season and met all of the criteria to be considered for a promotion, including being the highest placed non-Gold in the SimKart Championship. Congratulations on your promotion.
